Jaguar's C-X75 Electronic Vehicle (EV) has been hailed as the supreme winner of this year's Paris Motor Show. Not only did it win the award for "Best-in-Show", beating the Audio Quattro Concept and a host of new Lotus vehicles, it was also awarded the Editor's Choice for 2010 from Autoweek. The concept behind the C-X75 was to build a true low-zero emission sports car. In celebrating Jaguar's 75th anniversary, Jaguar has created their most ambitious car to date.

The C-X75 Concept is a two-seater coupe, high-performance sports car with an extended range electric powertrain that uses a pair of microturbines to generate power and drive the car through its four electric motors positioned over each wheel. Don't be confused about this being an electric vehicle along the lines of a Leaf, this baby is projected to have a top speed of 200 mph and accelerate 0-62 mph in just 3.4 seconds.

Due to its electric motors, the C-X75 offers almost a 70 mile all-electric range with zero-emissions. With the turbines at the rear, lithium-ion battery pack sits ahead of the passengers, between the front wheels. While the C-X75 uses four 145-kilowatt electric drive motors, they're not mounted in the wheels themselves, but inboard. Each is separately controlled, allowing for full torque vectoring for maximum traction.

At low speeds, the C-X75 operates on electricity from the battery for 65 miles or more. At higher speeds or when the battery is depleted, the 70-kilowatt gas turbines (spinning at up to 80,000 rpm) switch on to generate electricity that quickly recharges the battery.

At its highest speed, in "Track" mode, the turbines can also directly spin the drive motors for speeds of up to 205 mph, making the C-X75 a supercar of the future that has landed today.
